Where are all the Dapps ?! with Kyle Lu (Dapp.com)

We’ve been promised a new revolution of Dapps – Decentralized APPlications that will replace the oppression of the information cartel (Facebook / Apple etc). But Dapp are hardly gaining any traction – we ask Kyle Lu CEO of Dapp.com (DAPPT) about what happening in the Dapp space and how we can gain mass adoption.

What dapp might be interesting to an old civilian like me who has no interest in games?

The only thing I can think of is a supply-chain system where payment isn't effected until a checklist of tasks (e.g. production, Q.C. inspection, pickup & transportation, bank notification, customs clearance, physical delivery) has been certified. I'm sure there are other non-gaming applications, but I can't think of examples. A few hints?

(Actually, another one does come to mind — public storage of encrypted identity data where we can prove what we must, while providing Zero Knowledge.)

I just can't picture when I, as a screen-and-keyboard guy with only marginal knowledge of contemporary workings, would make use of a dapp. On the other hand, I can surely see how swiping my phone to make a purchase over the Lightning Network can be intuitive and user friendly.

My late step mother (b. 1925) was no byte-head, but she knew how to use her cell phone. I fully expect (okay, hope) to be using BTC for daily use in the next couple of decades, and I can grasp the reasons it should be successful and easy.

But what will I use a dapp for?

Viewchain – 750k registered users (Elastos Decentralized ID), average of 17k daily users, peaked at 27k. Users in Myanmar can perform certain tasks/games and earn some ELA which they can redeem for data or call minutes on their phone. What ViewChain is doing in Myanmar is not their end goal but more akin to a proof of concept for their global roll out. Not your typical gambling dapp.
